Friends of the Museum event

At the Friends AGM, Tony Coverdale gave a fascinating talk on ‘The Four Mills of Widcombe’ covering the long history of water power on the southern edge of the city.

On Saturday 25th May Tony will be following up this talk by leading a 2-3 Hour guided walk  starting at 2.00pm. Please note change of date.

“Discover interesting buildings, industrial archaeological remains, and the history of four water driven mills utilising local topology and water courses once working in the Widcombe area”

  • The meeting point and start of the walk will be : Centre of the new Quays Bridge, Newark Works, BA2 3DZ. What3Words: bills.lifts.buyers The route is 2.54 miles long with an elevation gain of approx. 210 feet, and will include stops to explain key features.
  • Please come suitably dressed for walking on gravel/grass paths.
